Spring in Edmonton, over the last few years, has been extremely windy. 2020 has been no different. It’s sad because the crab apple tree blossoms (or cherry blossoms as most people call them) blow off the trees after only a short few days. The morning of my maternity photography session with Salem was cold and the wind gusting to 50km/h. Not ideal for photos. As I was prepping to leave a storm starting rolling through. Double not ideal for photos! However, as I drove to the location in the Edmonton river valley, the clouds moved off and the sun came out. It was an absolutely beautiful evening! Salem was joined by her beautiful children, her sister and her parents. Please enjoy these maternity photos at one of Edmonton’s hidden gems for blossoms!
We had the most perfect evening for spring maternity photos in Edmonton with Preeti and her husband. Most of the cherry trees were finished blooming (although they are actually ornamental crabapple trees), but there was one surprise tree at Hawrelak Park that had just blossomed! And, if I can remember, there were no mosquitoes! It was like a photography jackpot. I love the diversity of Hawrelak Park, so many options and different looks for photographs. Preeti welcomed an adorable little boy in early summer. I will share those photos from his Edmonton newborn session soon! And check the Before & After edit at the end of the post. There was an ugly utility box right where the beautiful tree was. I had to take it out!
Also if you are into Geocaching, or looking to try it, Hawrelak Park is a great spot to start. There are a lot of geocaches hidden on the trails and inside the park boundaries. It’s such a fun activity to do with your kids. We keep a trinket filled ziplock bag in the car in case we are out and decide to do some spontaneous geocaching.
I have photographed Christy and her family several times over the years. They will be blessed very soon with a baby girl! I was excited to get outside in the Spring sunshine and photograph them on the grounds by the Muttart Conservatory Pyramids.
After several years of waiting, Kristi is expecting her first child. I was honoured to be the one chosen to photograph her and her baby through the first year of her life!
Newborn baby Ethan was soooooo so good during his photoshoot at my west Edmonton photography studio! And how could it not go well? I had a perfect sunset maternity session with his parents at St Albert’s Red Willow Park!
I love me a chonky newborn baby! Look at his cheeks! So cute. And his beautiful big sister Pyper got to join in for a photo. (*any photo I post that involves an animal and a newborn is a composite photo. I will also only attempt them with a pet that can show me they can obey the Sit, Lay Down and Stay commands*)
Expecting a baby? I would love to chat. Send me an email about my newborn (and/or maternity newborn combo packages).
This cute family of 3 will soon be a family of 5! The math is correct. They will be welcoming twin boys soon. Here is a quick peek into the outdoor portion of our maternity session from the weekend.
I’d like to thank all my clients who have willingly come outside with me in the winter for their photography sessions! I loved this snowy maternity session in Edmonton’s Millcreek Ravine with Ashley and her husband! Last time I photographed them and their puppies it was summertime. Looks different!

I have been shooting a lot of maternity recently. I love it. Keep it coming! D and her sweet little guy came to visit me on the weekend for some pictures. Their family will be welcoming baby #2 shortly! By the time we finished up the indoor photos, the snow was falling. So we went for a walk.
To book your maternity and/or newborn photos, you can send me a message! I look forward to working with you!
When Danielle sent me her vision for her maternity photos it featured soft tones and snow. But then January got really warm and it rained a lot. The snow that was left was dirty and crusty. I wasn’t optimistic we could pull off her vision. But the snow fell just in time. And we got some beautiful photos. Yay winter! This is one of my favourite Edmonton maternity photo sessions. I LOVE being able to show off Edmonton in the winter.
I would love to be able to photograph your maternity photos and newborn baby! Not everyone likes to go outside in the winter, so we can do the maternity session inside my Edmonton studio. Send me an email for more information!
